Pauline and Michael Duffy
Derek was a wonderful friend, and much, much more than that. He represented for us everything that was best about Evesham, and the ten happy years we spent here, and in Gretton. They weren't easy years for Pauline and Derek, shadowed as they were by the loss, so young, of Nigel. But with Derek's constant encouragement, Abbey House became a place of unfailing support, friendship and laughter. That was all many years ago, but the friendship has lasted ever since. So has the laughter. We still reminisce about the antics we got up to then: even now Derek is quietly smiling - perhaps about the eggs in the toes of his squash shoes. Right to the end, he was a rock of integrity and love for Pauline and Wendy, and for their countless friends. We miss him, and are deeply grateful to them both. In old age, we send our love to them both.
